It Takes 3 is a physical comedy about Mark, Ambrose and Matt: childhood pals, grown-up roommates and out-of-work clowns. Facing eviction they book a gig to perform their “world famous” boy band act at the Hollywood Palladium, even though they have no way to get to Hollywood… and no boy band act.

Through precision slapstick, comedic acrobatics, ironic mime, live musical performance and aerial stunts, the performers create a high-energy world of surprises. Rendered in the tradition of great physical comedians such as Jackie Gleason and Steve Martin, Happy Hour in It Takes 3 transcends traditional circus comedy to create an evening of theater that is remarkable genuine and wildly funny. At its heart it is the story of an enduring friendship between these three misfit buddies as they travel through an uncertain world and have a rockin’ good time along the way.

The Happy Hour Show

March 5, 2005

2pm

After 3 years of performing short pieces at Dance Theater Workshop's Family Matters shows, the curators Keely Garfield and Peggy Peloquin have given the boys an hour all to themselves. Excited as all get out, Ambrose, Mark and Matt have teamed up with choreographer David Neuman and cellist Catherine Bent to create a piece of what they think is "modern dance." Of course, something is bound to go wrong--and that's when the fun begins. Through precision slapstick, comedic acrobatics, and aerial stunts, the performers create a high-energy world of surprises that will leave you laughing.

The Happy Hour Show

The Happy Hour Show is all about pure physical comedy, and the antics of these three clowns are sure to leave the audience (and maybe even the performers) in stitches. Past shows have featured minor pyrotechnics, lima beans, a stool, torches, varying amounts of chest hair, dancing, scissors, one of those shiny countertop bells that you ring when you’re looking for someone to help you, enforced regurgitation, beer, great potential for personal injury, and lots of sweat. We're talking James-Brown-during-his-fifth-encore-at-the-Apollo-Theater-in-New York-on-a-humid-July-evening-circa-1962 kind of sweat. Oh, and they're funny too.
